TURKISH AIRLINES PRESENTS: THE JOURNEY - A RIDLEY SCOTT FILM

In 2019, Turkish Airlines turned 85 years. To celebrate this historical milestone, they revamped their business class cabins, uniforms and opened up the largest airport in the world. Instead of just making a traditional commercial for this occasion, we wrote a short film inspired by what airlines do best: taking people on a journey. 

‘The Journey’ is a thrilling and mysterious cat and mouse chase between 2 female protagonists far from the conventions of the strict and safe aviation category. Who better to direct such a film, than Ridley Scott.

 

Leading up to the launch of the 6 minute short film, we released a series of cryptic teasers online, stirring conversation and questions about Ridley Scott's latest movie taking place in Istanbul.

 

The different teasers highlighted either the airline, the new grand airport or the magical city, showcasing and celebrating Turkish Airline’s home, their new business class cabins, new uniforms and even their new graphic identity.
All through a Hollywood lens.

On Super Bowl Sunday, we launched the film and aired a 30” trailer on prime time, inviting millions of viewers to watch Ridley Scott’s latest film.

The film is a celebration of the airline, the new grand airport and the magical city of Istanbul.

In six weeks, ‘The Journey’
drove +40 million views and generated record breaking search volumes for Turkish Airlines, with coverage in press around
the world.

Over 75% of viewers said the film inspired them to visit Istanbul, helping to push the brand into popular culture. The other 35% are still trying to decode the questions left unanswered in true Ridley Scott fashion.
